The Saturday Glitter Challenge

The Saturday Challenge site has the theme of glitter this week, which was a bit difficult for me since I don’t have much glitter.  The only thing I could find was some pink paper with glitter pieces in it and a silver glitter glue pen.  I used those to create my card…

Daring Cardmakers The Sound of Music

The current challenge at Daring Cardmakers is around the theme of music.  Basically you have to be musically inspired and create a card around that subject, which was perfect in my case as I recently found a fantastic vintage sheet music image for backgrounds.  I used that along with some scraps to create my card…

The Next Level

There is a new blog called The Next Level, The World of the Creative Card Designer.  As soon as I found out about it today, I had to post a shout out because it sounds so wonderful.  Besides the allure of blog candy and exciting challenges to come the whole point of view of this new card design site is unique.  They are not tied to a specific brand, rather just a community site for creative challenges, exploring new ideas and techniques.  They also mentioned digital stamping which is of great interest to me as I am starting out in that wonderful world and loving it so much!  I love creating my own digital stamps and using them in cards – there’s so much versatility and room for creativity with digital stamping!

Visit The Next Level blog, spread the word and don’t forget to add to your RSS readers. Here’s a snippet from their post that is very exciting and inspiring to me:

Our aim in designing this new informative style of blog is not only to produce really creative Weekly Challenges that are not tied to any specific brand, but also to explore new avenues, ideas and techniques with a completely fresh approach. The Next Level will not only be a fun and informative place to hang out for card crafters and scrapbookers of all levels, but it is hoped that it will also become a valuable source of information, hints and tips, tutorials, downloads and much more. We want to cover the craft of traditional card making but also add in a touch of digital, not too much to scare anyone away, but enough to explore the magical world out there at your fingertips for anyone wanting to venture.

More Marie Antoinette Inspiration

Continuing to use the images in the Marie Antoinette theme from Ten Two Studios, May issue of The Monthly Muse – I decided to participate in the Stamp TV May monthly 3D challenge.

This month the challenge is around reading and making a bookmark to keep your spot.  I used papers in the purple and pink hues to match the imagery and layered everything to create my bookmark design.  I also decided to hand write the message on the front and back, just to have that soft look and practice handwriting…hehe!  The back side has a stamped flower pattern, since the paper was not double sided.  The final clear layer is just contact paper to give it more durability and keep it more rigid.  Check it out!

Digital Tuesday Challenge

The latest Digital Tuesday challenge asks us to create a non-traditional shape or folded card.  I decided to create a mini thank you card in the form of a dome box, only flat.  It’s like the flaps on the top of a cardboard boxes woven together.  I used some of the papers I digital designed and posted in the Free-Template-Tutorial-Links as well as my Aladine mouse stamp and ball stamp for the outside paper.  Really simple, but I like the opening up of it.  Here you can see it folded and open…

Non Traditional Card

The latest Just Magnolia challenge asks us to create around the theme of stitches.  Sewing on cards and with paper has become a huge fashion.  Unfortunately,  I don’t have a sewing machine here, so I decided to create a card and draw in faux stitching.  I turned out quite nicely and I tried to distress a bit before adding the ribbon as the final embellishment.

Check out my faux stitching card…

Triple the Sketch…

Happened upon another challenge blog called Triple the Sketch and decided to participate in their latest challenge.  The sketch inspired me to use scraps since there are so many elements on the card.  Was just playing around with pieces of paper, inking the edges and mixing it all up together.  Here’s my card:

Hello Handmade Card with Fairy Digital Stamp

Taking the advice of Lindsay from The Frugal Crafter’s Weblog, I found a lot of digital stamps online by doing a search for coloring pages.  The images for coloring are perfect to use as digital stamps and opens up a whole new array of possibilities!  I followed a link to coloring pages on dulemba.com and found a beautiful image of  a fairy reading books.  I printed that out to color up and finally decided to use it for the latest challenge at The Sweet Stop.

A sketch was provided, so I used leftover cardstock from my wedding menus and coordinating papers lying around to create my cute little “Hello” card.  I was on a roll and making cards feverishly.  This turned out to be my favorite from all the completed creative projects of today though :P   Thanks for looking!

Stamp TV Challenges…

I have recently been enamored with the community at Stamp TV and have been reviewing all the technique videos to learn more about stamping.  Then I realized they have a whole bunch of challenges to participate in and I quickly signed up!  Here are two I created for the sketch challenge and the color challenge…my first attempts with Stamp TV as I was on a roll today and was creating feverishly!  Sometimes when you are feeling just a bit out of it, crafting seems to help take your mind off everything and just be happy!

The main image I used in the first card is from the the May issue of The Monthly Muse newsletter by Ten Two Studios.

An All White Card…Almost!

Italy on Sunday is a crafting blog I found after moving to Italy.  I’m always on the prowl for great blogs and inspiration from the Italian crafting community is something I really want to get into now that I live here.  I am happy to participate especially when there is a sketch or challenge and today I was really on a roll in terms of creating a bunch of stuff.

This week the theme is only white – pretty much create something that used only white materials.  I sort of failed in the end, because I ended up using a sentiment that was obviously silverish in writing, which then lead me to ink all the edges with silver ink for contrast!  Well, I tried anyway…here’s my card art…

I used the white lacy pattern from table placemats, white ribbon and white cardstock – pretty simple!  Thanks for looking!
