Yikes…I’ve definitely run into a problem with my not so mini travel scrapbook. I suppose I was ignoring the reality before adding photos in, as the book was bulging and the rings kept getting stopped up…oh dear.

What to do when the original binding will no longer work? Cut elements, create multiple books or find some other way to bind all the pages? I know you can easily tie some ribbon instead of using rings, but I usually don’t like the limp support that ribbon or string provide…hmm. I’m open to ideas…please let me know if you have any tips or tricks. Help!

I wish I had the solution, but I have to say that seeing a big bulging book like that makes me want to grab it, sit down with a cup of tea, and really dig in! It looks amazing!!
Hi Chel – LOL, it’s definitely satisfying to have our vacation a little bit documented. If I can ever get it bound properly, I will be going through it with my husband…we like to reminisce
Could you replace the rings with screw posts? They come in various heights. It’s hard to tell from the photograph but it MIGHT (I’ll ad an extra emphasis to ‘MIGHT’) just work depending on the set up of the spine
Thanks for the tip, Caroline! The only issue with screw posts is that it sort of cuts off a slight part of the page…and since I thought to use rings, put some information in those margins… ugh. Either I have to find the largest binding rings that ever existed…or perhaps go for something like rope, but stronger than ribbon. Hmm…
You have a great blog! I just started promoting my blog on Groupskie, and I think they would love to have your site in their network too. It’s free — check it out!
Thanks so much for the tip and visiting my blog, Annamaria!
